Kim taught for 24 years in public education before retiring in May 2021. She taught 22 years for Nacogdoches ISD and 2 years for Pineywoods Community Academy in Lufkin. She earned a Bachelor's Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University, where she majored in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialization in reading and math. In 2004, she earned a Master of Education degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. Kim loves her profession as an educator. She encourages her students to become independent thinkers and life-long learners.
Kim's son, Matthew, is married to Marissa, and they live in Ohio with their young son. Kim loves being Riley James' grandmother, "Nonna." Family time is very important to Kim. She also enjoys reading, cooking, sewing/crafting, and spending time with friends and her fur babies,
